We tend to view celebrities through a veneer that’s larger than life—also known as being starstruck. There’s nothing wrong with it at its core, for it truly isn’t our fault. Hollywood and the TV industry purposely promote stars and raise them up to appear like idols, and thus this is how we view them. However, it’s important to remember that they are indeed regular people, and therefore if you see a celebrity on the street—treat them as such.
They Get It All The Time
For celebrities who have recognizable faces, they probably have a hard time grabbing a cup of coffee from Starbucks without receiving jolly greetings from ten different people. This can get taxing after a while, especially when all they want to do is just live a normal life. Remember: you don’t necessarily have to say hello.
Talk To Them About Their Work
But if you simply can’t bear the thought of not saying hi to this particular celebrity, then at least try and be as courteous as you can be. Instead of being like everyone else and screaming that you love them, speak like a human being as you would to your friend, and tell them earnestly that you appreciate their work. Because at the end of the day, their work—their chosen profession which they take pride on—is what you know them from.
