How to Get Beachy Waves Without the Beach

There’s something about those effortless waves that sun and salt water create that we can’t get enough of come summertime. A day at the beach is a great way to leave your hair looking expertly styled without the need for a trip to the salon, but some of us either live too far away or just don’t have the time. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to achieve the same look from home (with the added bonus that you don’t have to track sand all over your house.) Here are our go-to tips and products for achieving beachy waves.

Use a Wave Spray

The key to beachy waves is salt water, and luckily there are tons of products on the market today to help you create the same look at home. Our favorite wave spray is by Ouai. It’s actually salt free but uses rice protein and coconut water to help you achieve that just-out-of-the-ocean look.

Try Twists & French Braids

Different hairstyles will leave different textures in your hair, so experiment with various twists and braids to see which ones create the look you’re after. We recommend braiding your hair while it’s still wet. Leave them in overnight and in the morning tousle your hair with a little more spray.

Use Heat

This may take a little more practice, but beach waves can also be achieved using tools like a curling iron or even a straightener.
