Wednesday is one of the biggest hits in Netflix history. And while the show about Wednesday Addam’s schooldays at Nevermore is quite good, we could barely concentrate on anything other than her fabulous make-up.
In this adaptation, Jenna Ortega brings the beloved character to life. Wednesday is known for embracing all things goth, and the series creators did not disappoint when deciding on her clothing, hair, and, of course, make-up.
Tara McDonald, a make-up artist with 25 years of experience, was in charge of designing hair and make-up. “I wanted every character to look beautiful. I wanted a strong iconic look for each one,” she stated.
With Wednesday, McDonald went for “soft goth”. A combination of 3 MAC eyeshadows were used to create that smoky eye: Brown Script, Carbon, and Glitch in the Matrix. It was then finished off Ilia mascara.
The hero of the look, however, is surely the lip.
“The idea was for her to look like she had naturally dark lips,” McDonald said. “I didn’t want it to look like she was wearing lipstick.”
The signature pout was achieved by mixing MAC’s Lip Pencil in Nightmoth with Dr PawPaw’s clear lip balm in a little pot or on the back of the hand.
