Thrillers Set in the Culinary World are Taking Hollywood By Storm

Most people turn to food when looking for peace and comfort, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with some of Hollywood’s leading filmmakers. Culinary thrillers and horrors have become surprisingly popular this year and here are three films that put this genre on the map.

Fresh

At the first glance, this film starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan seems like a classic meet-cute story, but it comes with a wild twist. What starts as a story about the horrors of modern dating turns into an actual horror about cannibalism and one woman’s fight for survival.

The Menu

This culinary thriller centers on a young couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) traveling to a remote island where a famous chef (Ralph Fiennes) prepared an exclusive meal for his rich guests. Once they’re there, it quickly becomes clear there’s something sinister about this place and that they bit off more than they can chew.

Boiling Point

Boiling Point takes the page from The Bear’s book and takes us to the high-pressure life of a busy restaurant kitchen. Unlike the first two movies, this one isn’t necessarily scary, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat with Stephen Graham’s amazing performance as a chef who tries not to break under pressure on the busiest day of the year.
