There are some love stories that depict rainbows and butterflies. And while those love stories can be beautiful, there may not be a love story more beautiful than the one that surrounds the couple, Kevin and Blake Walsh. The two met at a bible camp back when they were teenagers. After Blake made a cute comment telling Kevin that the color black looked good on him, the two became pretty good friends. However, as the year progressed, a 17 year old Kevin fell into a very depressed state. He was at the point of taking his own life because of his immense feelings of isolation and sadness. On the day that he decided he couldn’t take it anymore, he wrote a suicide note and then proceeded to go to the place where he intended to commit suicide. However, before he was able to go through with the act, he got a phone call. Not wanting to not know who was calling him, he answered the phone and heard a familiar voice on the other line.
Blake had called him in order to catch up because they hadn’t spoken for about a year prior to this day. Kevin ended up admitting to Blake what he was planning to do. However, Blake was able to calm Kevin down and talk him out of it. Kevin claims that Blake’s phone call to him is truly what saved his life because it was everything that he needed at that moment. By hearing her concern and compassion for him, Kevin knew that someone cared for him. Fast forward 10 years later, and the two have just recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. And while this love story many not have the same magic that typical fairy tales do, this story is one of compassion, true love, and selflessness.
