Tom Ford –  Ford was born in Austin, Texas. Now, the 53 year old is responsible for many fashion trends that are still around and worn today. And of course, the Gucci stiletto became his most famous signature piece, which is still incredibly popular in the world of fashion today. Ford now also has a high – end makeup brand.

Ralph Lauren is and has been one of the most iconic American designers of our time, and his clothing is sold in every designer store. Every American knows RL. Born Ralph Lifshitz, and raised in the Bronx, New York City, Lauren studied business at Baruch College in Manhattan. After serving in the US army for two years, Lauren started designing under the name of Polo.

Calvin Klein is another one of the most amazing designers to come from the States. He is the man we all need to thank for those underwear images of all celebs, as well as all of those campaigns – even with  Justin Bieber and the Kardashians. Today, Klein’s net worth is estimated at US $700 million! 

Vera Wang, is the most well known and most talented American bridal designer.

Born and raised in New York, Wang worked for Vogue as a senior fashion editor before moving to Ralph Lauren. In 1990 she opened her first bridal boutique. She began her career creating gowns to complement any bride for her big day. She has since become the go-to bridal designer for everyone including Chelsea Clinton.

Tiffany first opened its doors in 1837, founded by Charles Tiffany and John Young, in New York City.  In 1853, Charles took control of the company – and started focusing more on jewellery than one stationary and other goods. At first, they only accepted only cash payments, cementing its reputation as a high-class establishment for the upper class.

Today, Tiffany & Co is estimated to be worth over US $8 billion.
