Online Dating Continues To Grow

According to popular dating sites such as Match.com and Tinder are expecting an increase in usage in the beginning of this year. For example, Match.com predicted a 42 percent increase in account signups by people looking for love. According to Tinder, 44 million matches were made on the first Sunday of last year and the trend is looking like it will continue.

Many people have set their new year resolutions around the concept of finding love and becoming more adventurous in general. Because of this, people are more inclined to take a risk and sign up for a dating website in hopes to connect with a potential future partner.

According to Tinder, almost 10% of all Tinder swipes for the month of January occur on the first Sunday. This may be because there is a “try something new” before the new week mindset. This is also looking to be a year where many people who have yet to interact with online dating will give it a try.

If you are looking to try an online dating website this upcoming year but don’t know much about them, Bela Gandhi, the founder of the Smart Dating Academy has some tips on exactly what sites you should be using depending on a variety of factors, one of the most important ones being age. Ghandi states that for people who are around 20 years old, her favorite online dating platform is Bumble.

For those who are between 30 and 40, Match.com is her favorite. And for people upwards of 50, she claims that the two best sites are Our Time and EHarmony.

Regardless of where you are looking for love online, it is important to understand the risks and exercise a bit of caution when you and someone who have connected online actually decide to meet up.
