There’s nothing sadder than when your pet gets older. You watch them grow up as a puppy, and before you know it, they’re starting to limp around the house and can’t do basic everyday tasks. Sometimes it gets to a point where a pet is actually suffering, and thus you wonder if it’s time to put them out of their misery. But how do you know when it’s time to make that difficult choice?
They’re Not Themselves
Sometimes it’s not easy to know whether or not your pet is suffering, but one good way to know is that they just don’t seem like themselves. Instead of going to their usual spots, they do things that are completely out of their routine—and that is something that should indicate that they’re really not doing well.
They Whimper Often
This one should seem pretty obvious, but you’ll know they’re in pain if they’re often whimpering or crying. If this is happening pretty often, it may be time to put them down. You have to ask yourself whether you’re keeping them alive for their sake or yours. If they’re no longer getting enjoyment out of life, and are clearly suffering, it may be time to say goodbye.
