Several movies expected to break into the best motion picture – drama, including Blitz, Sing Sing, and The Piano Lesson, failed to make the cut, leaving it up to September 5 to take their spot.
Horror movies usually don’t get much love at major award shows, so it’s quite refreshing to see The Substance over-perform at the Globes and receive five nominations.

The Beatles used the power of AI to extract John Lennon’s voice from an old demo for their final song “Now and Then”, and the Recording Academy recognized their efforts with a shocking record of the year nod.
Jack Antonoff won the producer of the year award three times in a row, but he isn’t even in the running this time around. This is quite a shocker since he produced two AOTY contenders – Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.
Speaking of album of the year, this category was quite difficult to predict, and it was a huge shocker to see New Blue Sun by André 3000 and Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier getting nominations.
Song/record of the year categories also brought several suprises our way. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” was chosen as song of the year contender over “Espresso”, while Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” was snubbed for record of the year despite spending 16 weeks at No. 1.
