2025 Grammy Awards: Snubs & Surprises Everyone’s Buzzing About

After a lot of anticipation, this year’s Grammy nominations are finally in, and Beyoncé is leading the way with historic 11 nods. The Recording Academy made some pretty interesting and unexpected choices this time around, and here are five snubs and surprises that got everyone talking.

Snub: Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande’s latest album Eternal Sunshine helped her score her sixth consecutive nomination for the best pop vocal album, but it was completely shut out of the main categories.

Surprise: The Beatles

The Beatles used the power of AI to extract John Lennon’s voice from an old demo for their final song “Now and Then”, and the Recording Academy recognized their efforts with a shocking record of the year nod.

Snub: Jack Antonoff

Jack Antonoff won the producer of the year award three times in a row, but he isn’t even in the running this time around. This is quite a shocker since he produced two AOTY contenders – Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.

Surprise: Album of the Year

Speaking of album of the year, this category was quite difficult to predict, and it was a huge shocker to see New Blue Sun by André 3000 and Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier getting nominations.

Snub: Song/Record of The Year

Song/record of the year categories also brought several suprises our way. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” was chosen as song of the year contender over “Espresso”, while Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” was snubbed for record of the year despite spending 16 weeks at No. 1.
