Of all of the things that could have possibly made it onto Pinterest’s 2023 trend forecast, elevated shower routines was not one we expected. That said, we’re totally here for it. There are few things we love more than a hot shower after a long day, so any trend that encourages turning bathing into a ritual is one that we can get behind. Here are a few ways we’ll be “elevating” our shower routines this year.
Use a Filter
While tap water is generally safe for bathing, in many locations, hard water containing minerals and metals can cause a film to build up on hair over time. This build-up often dries hair out and makes it prone to breakage. If you live in a location with hard water, consider installing a filter on your shower head to protect your hair so that it stays strong and healthy.
Hang Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus contains aromatic oils that can help relieve stress and even clear nasal congestion. Tie a bunch of eucalyptus branches together with some twine and hang it behind your showerhead. The steam will help to release the oils and give your shower a relaxing, spa-like feel.
Fluffy Towels
Detergents and fabric softeners can leave a residue on towels that causes them to become scratchy and less absorbent. The best way to make towels feel new again is by adding 1 cup of white vinegar to the fabric softener compartment of your washing machine when doing laundry. The vinegar helps to soften the fibers and remove any old, musty scents.
