How to Get the “Villain” Makeup Look

With more and more beauty trends taking over TikTok and other social media, it can be hard to keep up with what’s in vogue. This fall, many of us are looking to recreate a “villain” makeup look. Think glam, gothic, and just a little bit bad. While there are different ways to achieve this look, below are some of the core elements that you’ll want to include.

Define Brows

Accentuating your arches and darkening your brows can bring a little drama to your look and frame the rest of your face. While you don’t want to go overboard (that can quickly look cartoon villain rather than a femme fatale), making sure your brows match the rest of your goth-inspired look keeps things in balance and looking great.

Contoured Cheeks

You want your cheekbones sharp enough to slice somebody on, so bring out the blush, highlighter, and bronzer. If you’re new to contouring there are plenty of videos explaining the technique on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, but essentially you’re looking to lighten the parts of your face where the light naturally lands (cheekbones, eyebrow arches, the bridge of your nose) while bringing some subtle shadows to other areas to sharpen and accentuate the angles in your face.

Bold Lip

Whether you opt for a classic scarlet shade or a more daring purple or auburn hue, the key here is to make the lips big and dramatic. You’ll want to make sure they’re soft and healthy so use a good lip balm beforehand, and then combine the effects of a lip color and a lip liner to make your lips as big and as bold as possible.
