There are many reels and shorts offering the key to all-day wear for your eyeliner, but sometimes all this content can be a little overwhelming. No one wants smudged eyeliner or liner which fades after half a day, but there’s no need to watch makeup tutorials for hours to achieve this. Check out these simple tips on applying and maintaining your eyeliner so it doesn’t budge until you come to remove it.
Clean Slate
Before you start thinking about applying eyeliner or any other eye makeup products, make sure your eyes and the surrounding area are completely clean. Wash your face using your standard face cleanser, and then go over the area with a cotton pad soaked in micellar water. Let this soak in and absorb for five minutes, and now you’re ready to start applying makeup.
Prepare Your Eyes
While you don’t want to coat your eyes in heavy products before going in with your eyeliner, a light dusting of a neutral-toned (non-sparkly) eyeshadow can act as a base and provide something for the eyeliner to hold onto. Make sure your eyeliner pencil is sharpened try to apply it in one or two fluid motions, so you’re not smudging the line with multiple reapplications.
Set It
Once you’ve applied your eyeliner, you can set it with another fine dusting of a neutral-toned eyeshadow over the top. You can also finish with a spritz of makeup setter so that you can ensure all-day wear. If you’re applying mascara, it can help to wait a few minutes before you go in with this, to give your eyeliner time to set completely.
