The Met Gala is still many months away, but we already have all the crucial info about the fashion’s biggest night. The theme and co-chairs have been announced, and here’s everything you should know about the historic exhibition and new co-chairs of the 2025 Met Gala.
Theme
The Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” will be the first in over two decades to focus exclusively on menswear. It “will take the Black dandy as its subject, examining the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora” and draw inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
Location & Date
As always, the Met Gala will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, on the first Monday of May, which will fall on May 5, 2025. As for the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, its doors will be open to the public from May 10 to October 26, 2025.
Co-Chairs
Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is returning as Met Gala’s co-chair, and she’ll be in pretty good company. Musician Pharrell Williams, who currently serves as the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, is coming on board as a co-chair alongside rapper A$AP Rocky, F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, and acclaimed actor Colman Domingo. The NBA icon LeBron James will join them as an honorary co-chair.
