Don’t Give Up Your Routine When Going Through Change

In life, we constantly find ourselves going through change. Sometimes, that change can feel larger than life. Whether it’s having a new child, starting a new job, or moving to a new city, sometimes big changes can affect our lifestyle in a dramatic way. Depending on the nature of the change, this can be a good thing. But here’s why it’s still important to not give up our routine completely.

A Piece of Yourself

Oftentimes, there are great benefits to putting our old ways aside. If we find ourselves overwhelmed with new things going on, we don’t really have time to do the things we used to do. This can sometimes help refine our character in a multitude of ways. However, it’s also important to remember that we deserve some “me” time too.

In many ways, that “me” time represents a piece of your old way of life. Maybe you used to love going to diners every Sunday night. If you can’t keep up with that same schedule now, that’s fine—but maybe you can compromise by going every other week? Even if it’s something small, it’s important to remind yourself that you still have things that you like to do. Once all the dust settles in this major life change, you’ll feel equipped to do similar things you once did—albeit in a more balanced fashion.
