If you love gardening and would do anything to protect your flowers and plants, then it’s important to keep pests out of your garden. While pesticides may be effective at doing so, it’s important to note that some plants attract pests more than others. Here are some plants to avoid to maintain a pest-free garden.
Tulips
Depending on where you live, tulips can fall prey not only to insects but to other animals as well. Rabbits and deer enjoy munching on tulips, as do aphids, thrips, and spiders. While they may be beautiful, it might be best to give tulips a miss.
Roses
While they may seem convenient to have for anniversary celebrations and Valentine’s Day, roses can end up being more of a hindrance than an asset. This is because an extremely wide variety of pests enjoy nibbling on them, from Japanese beetles to aphids, thrips, spider mites, and even rose-focused pests including rose slugs and rose leafhoppers.
Tomatoes
From rabbits, deer, and squirrels to hornworms, stink bugs, and whiteflies, tomatoes seem to be everyone’s favorite snack. For this reason, if you are interested in maintaining a vegetable garden, it might be best to leave tomatoes out of it.
