]]>The Whale star looked breathtaking at the New York City premiere for the Oscar-nominated film. Sink’s hair was styled by Tommy Buckett who is responsible for some of her most memorable looks.
Buckett described the 20-year-old’s hair at The Whale premiere as having an “editorial feel, with one thicker section of hair that created its own wave pattern.” Here is how he achieved that.
Apply a product like Oribe’s Hair Alchemy Serum through damp or dry hair. This will keep the hair soft and lock in moisture, while also preventing breakage.
Separate the hair into horizontal sections. The key to creating Sink’s effortlessly chic waves is to use different tools and techniques. Use a large barrel curling iron on some sections and a flat iron on others in alternating directions.
If you want your waves to last for a long period of time, you can use pin curl clips or duckbill clips to set them in place. Avoid exercising or excessive wind, and use products that counter humidity and static to protect your hair from the elements.

]]>This is a great hack if you are on vacation and don’t want to pack the bulky diffuser attachment. You can bring a fine mesh sieve instead, which weighs less, and won’t take up so much room in your luggage.
You want to put the blow drier on low heat and high speed and hold the sieve over different parts of your head as you blow the hair.
It can be a little more time-consuming than a diffuser and you don’t get the same volume on the roots, but the waves are just as good and it decreases the level of frizz.

]]>The “Bowl Method” is perfect for those who have wavy hair because it helps form the waves much more naturally. Here’s how to achieve the wavy hair of your dreams using the “Bowl Method”.
Wash hair and condition normally in the shower. Complete the next steps immediately after getting out of the shower.
Apply leave-in conditioner to hair and fill a bowl with water. Flip your head over and dip your hair into the bowl.
Take hair out of water and squish curls repeatedly. Dip curls back into water.
Repeat Step 3 for a couple minutes, or until the product is evenly distributed throughout hair. This helps the waves/curls look less clumpy because there won’t be any areas with product buildup.
Remove curls from bowl and squish until waves/curls form. Apply your gel or mousse to soaking wet hair.
Dip curls back in water and scrunch until you are satisfied. Enjoy your beautiful, bouncy waves!

]]>Wash and condition your hair as normal, but before you rinse the conditioner out, run a wide-tooth comb through your hair a few times to remove all of the tangles. Comb your hair again before wrapping it in a towel.
There are plenty of products formulated to help define and smooth wavy hair on the market today, and while there are similarities, we’ve noticed that some are more up to the job than others. We especially love Briogeo’s Banana + Coconut Soft Wave Texture Spray.
Once you’ve combed your hair and applied any product, resist the urge to brush it again so as not to ruin your waves. If your waves do start to fall, evenly apply a bit more product and use your fingers to twist your hair into 1” pieces.
