If epic fantasy happens to be your favorite genre, you’ll be glued to the screen in the next few months. This genre is experiencing a huge comeback right now, with several shows premiering or returning for a new season this summer and fall.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Almost two decades after Peter Jackson’s trilogy ended its run, J. R. R. Tolkien’s hit series is getting another adaptation. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is Amazon’s most expensive project to date, and they’re reportedly plotting a five-season ark.
House of the Dragon
HBO is plotting many Game of Thrones spinoffs as we speak and House of the Dragon is the first one to see the light of day. It centers on the war of succession between the members of the House Targaryen for their place on the Iron Throne, which will eventually lead to their downfall.
The Wheel of Time
Unlike the previous two projects, The Wheel of Time is a returning series and its second season is expected to premiere later this year. Based on Robert Jordan’s series of novels, this Amazon drama is set in a high-fantasy world where magic exists, but only a rare few can channel it.
