]]> Of all of the beauty trends we predicted for 2023, fruit-inspired nails were not on our list, but we’re now six months into the year, #fruitnails is having a moment on TikTok, and, all things considered, we’re not mad about it. After all, what says “summer” more than ripe, juicy berries and seedless watermelon? Fruity nails are a fun, easy way to add some color to your look that doesn’t require any kind of long-term commitment. Here are a few of our favorite takes on the trend that we’ve seen so far this season.

Fruit Salad

Keep it simple with this fresh take on a classic French manicure. The artist included a mix of cherries, berries, and citrus fruit along with a few clear rhinestones, which add a sparkly touch to a bright and colorful summer design.

Juicy Fruit

As if the watermelons weren’t already mouthwatering enough, this artist added a few drops of a clear gel polish to create the illusion of condensation over this design. The result is a sparkly, textured look that captures the feeling of cutting into the first melons of the season. 

Berry Beautiful

We love the way this artist made use of the nails’ negative space by alternating strawberry and French manicure-inspired designs using the same colors. Together, they create a playful, yet cohesive look that’s sure to complement any summer outfit.

It’s become standard for trends to go in and out of style at a rate that’s difficult for most of us to keep up with, and this creates strain on both our wallets and the environment. That said, we know that fashion and beauty are forms of self-expression that are important to so many people.

Rather than suggest forgoing trends entirely, we love the idea of trying out smaller, simpler options that don’t have the same potential to leave you with buyer’s remorse. Nail art is one of our favorites and this holiday season has inspired several nail art trends that we’re especially excited to try.

Starburst Twinkles

This trend is a fun way to pay homage to the spirit of the season without venturing being too cartoonish. The starbursts can be painted using a glitter polish for extra shine or a plain color for a more understated look.

]]> Summer was all about glowy skin and glazed nails, but winter is at the door and it’s time to slip into something a bit more cozy… 

Just because we’re wearing gloves, doesn’t mean that our nails needn’t look fabulous. The latest trend involves using sparkles to get a velvety effect which will make you want to stroke your nailbed.

The trend has been popular in Asia for the last few months, with Korean beauty influencers sporting velvety manicures. The look is, in fact, an optical illusion that is created with a magnet which “pulls” the shimmer in the polish and gives a textured effect. 

Many salons stock these polishes with metallic particles, but you can also pick up your own for a DIY manicure.

Paint a base coat in the color of your choice, then top it with a layer of the magnetic polish. Hold the little magnet above your nail while the polish is still wet and direct the shimmer where you’d like it to go. Then, let it dry, and repeat the process with another coat of magnetic polish. Once you’re happy, apply top coat and again hold the magnet to the 4 corners of your nail.
