If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about how red your cheeks and nose turn in winter, stop worrying because you’re now on trend! As the weather turns cooler, the latest make-up look doing the rounds on social media has been inspired by the chilly air.

This is not the first time that the weather has influenced how we do our make-up. During summer, the “sunburned make-up” trend made us look as though we had spent the day at the beach with blush applied to the cheeks and bridge of the nose. Think of the “cold girl make-up” look as the wintry version with a few little changes.

Whereas summer is all about dewy skin, cold girl make-up looks best with a matte base. Eyelids can be frosty with shimmery shadow, and you want to give your lips a “just kissed” effect with a red or pink in the centre that has been blended out.

As for the blush—the most important element!—think of where you naturally go pink from being in the cold. Dab some blush on your cheeks, the tip of your nose, and above your cupid’s bow.

Marilyn Monroe is regarded as the most beautiful and dynamic actress of her time. Her sultry style is so iconic that it is still being spoken about 60 years after her death.

The Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star would have absolutely no idea what TikTok is, but TikTok knows all about her. Marilyn-inspired make-up is latest trend on the social media platform, with dozens of users trying out her technique for her sultry eyes.

The blonde bombshell used eyeshadow and white eyeliner to achieve her signature bedroom eyes by elongating the lower lash line. While a classic wing on top is meant to elongate the eye and give a fuller lash line, the bottom line is meant to create a shadow from the lashes, drawing the eyes down. Applying white liner on the waterline then makes the eyes appear big and bright.

The best way to achieve this is by relaxing your face and eyes while applying the makeup. Using a matte eyeshadow in brown or taupe, copy the same shape as the cat flick on the bottom lash line, starting from the outer third of the eye. Pencil brushes will help with precision. Then, take a white or cream-colored one and place it on the bottom waterline.

The look is completed with a pair of falsies, and if you’re really channeling Marilyn, don’t forget the red lip!

On the list of things that just scream summer, sun-kissed skin is pretty near the top. While spending time outdoors is an excellent way to get some much-needed Vitamin D, too much sun exposure can be more harmful than helpful. If you have sensitive skin that repels the sun’s rays, but don’t want to look as though you’ve been hibernating all season, here’s how to fake a summer glow.

Feign the Flush

If you ever needed proof that the sun is a dangerous entity, the term “sunburn” should be enough. Red and painful is not the trend we’re going for, thank you very much. What is on trend, though, is applying blush in a way that looks as though you got slightly burnt—just ask Hailey Bieber. For best results, use a cream blush and apply in a “W” shape across your cheeks and nose.

Fake Those Freckles

Over the years, many a freckled person has sought to cover their dots using make-up. The irony, now, is that make-up is being used to create those tiny marks on people who don’t possess the freckle gene! The faux freckles can be achieved using eyeliner and gently tapping the spots. And if freckles come naturally to you, now is the time to embrace your genetic gift!

Bronze, Baby

Some people turn golden by being in the sun, and others end up looking related to a tomato. If you’re the latter, bronzer is your new best friend. Choose a powder or cream bronzer that is a shade or two darker than your skin tone. Blend it around the edges of your face, your cheekbones, and collar bones for a gorgeous glow that’ll make it seem like you’ve spent hours working on your tan.
