While your bathroom may seem as if it has everything you need right now, a little creativity can make it feel more luxurious than you previously imagined, especially in the shower. Here are some luxury shower ideas that designers have been raving about.

Tiled or Stone Tub

If you have an all-in-one shower and bathtub, then consider designing the tub’s exterior with either tiles or stonework. Designer Amy Vroom recommends: “Tile the skirt. And if there’s an under-mount tub, add a stone slab to the top of it for an extra special feature.”

Mix Natural Stone With Color

Consider putting graphic tiles in your shower, either from floor to ceiling or on a single side. “The color brings warmth to a space while the stone elevates the details,” designer Gina Gutierrez explained.

Pick Your Hardware Carefully

Rather than installing any basic shower head, consider installing one with a fancy or vintage look. Also, think about the type of faucets and knobs that you install as this can transform your shower.

After a long day of hustle and bustle, there’s nothing quite like unwinding in a luxurious spa. But what if we told you that you could recreate that tranquil oasis right in the comfort of your own home? Yes, it’s time to turn your ordinary bathroom into a spa-like sanctuary. Here are five ways to do just that.

Soothing Colors and Textures

The first step in creating a spa-like atmosphere is to choose calming colors and textures. Opt for soft, neutral tones like light blues, greens, or earthy beiges. These colors promote relaxation and a sense of tranquility. Incorporate natural elements such as bamboo, stone, or wood textures for added visual appeal. Soft, plush towels and bath mats in luxurious materials like Egyptian cotton will enhance the sensory experience.

Ambient Lighting

Lighting sets the mood, and in a spa-like bathroom, it should be soft and soothing. Consider installing dimmer switches to adjust the intensity of your lighting. Add candles or flameless LED candles to create a warm and inviting ambiance. Use accent lighting to highlight certain features like artwork or plants, creating a visually stunning space.

Aromatherapy Bliss

Infuse your bathroom with delightful scents to stimulate your senses. Aromatherapy is a powerful tool for relaxation. Invest in scented candles, essential oil diffusers, or potpourri to create a soothing aroma. Lavender, eucalyptus, and chamomile are popular choices for their calming properties. Incorporate these scents into your bath products or create your own DIY bath salts or shower bombs for an indulgent spa experience.

Declutter and Organize

Clutter can disrupt the tranquility of a spa-like bathroom. Take the time to declutter and organize your space. Invest in storage solutions like floating shelves, baskets, or drawer organizers to keep your toiletries and towels neatly arranged. Clear countertops and uncluttered surfaces will promote a sense of calm and serenity.

Luxurious Touches

Elevate your bathroom experience with luxurious touches. Invest in fluffy bathrobes, soft slippers, and plush cushions to create a cozy and pampering environment. Treat yourself to high-quality bath products like silky bath oils, gentle exfoliants, and indulgent body lotions. Incorporate lush green plants or fresh flowers to add a touch of nature and freshness to the space.

Southeast Asia is known for many things, from its budget-friendliness to its plethora of massage places to its fascinating temples. But there’s a fun fact about Southeast Asia that rarely gets talked about—an area where it excels far beyond that of Western society. Perhaps it’s because it has to do with personal hygiene and people aren’t always comfortable opening up about stuff like that. But in any case, this area of the world is way ahead of America and Europe when it comes to bathrooms—and it’s because of the bidet.

It’s For Everyone There

In case you’re not sure what it is, a bidet is a small little spray-hose that’s attached to your toilet. In America, it’s reserved for the rich. But in Southeast Asia, a bidet is a mainstay on every toilet, no matter where you are. In a mall, an Airbnb, or even a cheap hostel—you’ll always find a bidet on the toilet.

A Different Philosophy

Perhaps the reason for this is because in Southeast Asia, they believe a bidet is genuinely the best way to clean oneself after using the facilities. And so they’ve made it their business to ensure that it’s the “default” way of doing it there. And if you ask us, we completely agree.

Most of the rest of the world, however, is still stuck on toilet paper. When you really stop and think about it, it’s hard to find an argument for why using toilet paper is more hygienic than a bidet—and we think it’s about time that Western culture implements bidets into all toilets, and not just the wealthy.
