]]>Everyone’s favorite mother/daughter couldn’t be better. Still, everything is far from perfect—the girls aren’t precisely on speaking terms since the last time we saw them. Creator and executive producer, Sarah Lampert said they wanted to pick up exactly where they left off—just two weeks after where last season left off.
That 90’s Show is a spin–off reboot of that 70’s show, with the majority of the original cast from That 70’s show. The new series centers on Leia Foreman, the teenage daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Riniotti, who is staying with her grandparents, Kitty and Red Foreman for the summer of 1995.
Released to Netflix on 1 January, this drama series follows a master thief and his crew who attempt an epic heist. However, the most exciting thing about this series is the fact each viewer watches the series in a different order, so each person who watches the show will see it in a unique order.

]]>Wednesday only came out about a month ago, but that didn’t stop it from becoming one of the pop cultural milestones of 2022. It became the second-most watched English-language series on Netflix, and fans are patiently awaiting the next chapter.
The long-anticipated Game of Thrones spin-off finally came out this year and welcomed us back to Westeros. The first season introduced us to the main characters who’ll have an important role to play in the downfall of House Targaryen.
The Bear marked the rise of culinary dramas, and it had us saying “Yes, chef!” all year long. It follows a young award-winning chef as he tries to elevate the family sandwich shop following his brother’s suicide.
One of the most mind-bending shows of 2022, Severance welcomed us into the dystopian future where people get to choose to have their memories divided between work and personal lives.
Based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel of the same name, Heartstopper centers on two teens whose unlikely friendship quickly develops into something more.

]]>It’s not that movies aren’t popular anymore. They’re still watched by millions across the globe. However, in this day and age, they’ve taken an obvious backseat to that of hour-long TV dramas. These TV series are thriving specifically thanks to the advent of streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, which have allowed viewers to “binge” their various shows for weeks on end.
Viewers have shown that they’d much rather watch 10 episodes—or 70, for that matter—of a series within the comforts of their own home, than go to the movie theater and watch a two-hour film.
Does that mean that movies are dead? Perhaps not. But they’re definitely not the Kingpin of Entertainment that they used to be. That crown has officially been passed on to the TV series of the world, from Stranger Things, to Breaking Bad, to The Walking Dead, to Downton Abbey, to all of your favorites.

]]>The abundance of spinoffs makes us wonder whether or not there’s a major lack of creativity in the industry today. Naysayers to this argument may reason that there are people with creative ideas, but it’s simply the fact that popular franchises have already “proven to sell”. If that’s true, then it opens a new question: are movies and TV shows about inspiring people through great storytelling or simply about making money?
Even when there are new movies and TV series that come out, they often feel trite and derivative of something that came before. So are screenwriters simply running out of stories to tell? Perhaps this suggests that the creative departments in entertainment industries are going through a long weak spell, and have been for a while.
If you’d like a more optimistic take, this may suggest that we’re on the brink of a cultural revolution, where a fresh, new tone of voice will get established for years to come.

]]>This darkly funny murder drama drew a comparison to Big Little Lies due to its plot, and we dare to say it might be even better. It centers on five Garvey sisters, played by Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, Sharon Horgan, and Eve Hewson, who go the extra mile to protect each other from everything that might do them harm.
This Amazon show draws inspiration from Brian K. Vaughan’s comic book series of the same name, and it’s truly one wild ride. It centers on a group of young girls time traveling to 2019 and facing their adult selves after their paper routes have been disrupted all the way back in 1988.
We’ve seen many 90s and 80s movies get modern remakes, but this one is actually worth the watch. Just like the original film, A League of Their Own centers on a formation of an all-girl baseball team Rockford Peaches during wartime years, but it follows a new group of characters that you’re going to root for.
