Knives Out turned the whodunnit genre on its head when it came out in 2019 and its sequel was a long time coming. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is finally coming our way later this year and here’s everything you need to know to gear up for another epic Benoit Blanc mystery.

Plot Details

For quite some time, we only knew that Glass Onion will take a place on a Greek Island and follow a new group of colorful characters, but Netflix finally shared some major plot details. The sequel will focus on a tech billionaire who invites “some of his nearest and dearest for a getaway on his private Greek island, [but] it soon becomes clear that all is not perfect in paradise.”

Star-Studded Cast

Knives Out movies wouldn’t be possible without their star-studded cast and Glass Onion is quite impressive in that regard. In addition to Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc and Edward Norton as tech billionaire Miles Bron, the film will also star Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.

Title and Release Date

Director Rian Johnson named his new film after the Beatles’ song “Glass Onion” and wanted its title to relate to the metaphor of hiding in plain sight. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere on Netflix on December 23, and the streamer is reportedly considering giving it 45-day window in the theatres before releasing it online.
